What first pulled you toward Ayurveda, and what made you trust it?

When my father passed away, I was navigating a kind of grief that touched every part of me. Ayurveda found me in that moment. Its warmth, its simplicity, and the way it helped my body and mind settle made me trust it. It didn’t take the grief away — it helped me move through it with steadiness, compassion, and a sense of coming back to myself.

What’s a wellness trend you ignore, and what do you do instead?

I tend to step away from the trend of counting calories. From an Ayurvedic perspective, health isn’t determined by numerical tracking but by how well the body digests, assimilates, and responds to food. Instead of focusing on calorie totals, I prioritize qualities such as warmth, digestibility, and alignment with my dosha. I pay attention to hunger cues, energy levels, and how a meal supports my overall balance. This approach creates a more sustainable, intuitive relationship with nourishment.

What’s your “rule #1” for a healthy lifestyle—if you had to pick just one?

My rule #1 is to listen to my body. Instead of forcing rigid routines or pushing through exhaustion, I pay attention to what my body is asking for—whether that’s movement, rest, warmth, nourishment, or stillness. Some days that means a strong flow; other days it’s a slow walk or gentle stretching. Honouring those cues creates a healthier, more sustainable rhythm than any one-size-fits-all approach.
